Teachers at Nashoba Brooks care about children and understand and accept individual differences. They guide students in the learning process within a safe environment for mastering skills and taking risks, providing opportunities for children to participate in active learning.

Nashoba Brooks teachers are active learners themselves, attending and leading professional workshops and conferences, and taking advantage of mini-sabbaticals. They model the joy of learning, and they also model the joy of collaboration. Teachers working closely together in teams and departments develop curriculum that is both rigorous and creative.

From the father of a 2009 graduate:

“It was not that long ago that we were in a parent teacher meeting talking about our daughter’s areas to improve. While a very intelligent kid, she needed the close connections and mentoring that Nashoba Brooks had to offer. She was not a ‘natural student.’

Only a couple of years later, our daughter was admitted to one of the most competitive classes in Deerfield Academy history. High school placement is not the only measure of the quality of a school. But I just wanted you to know that it was the extra effort of teachers like Lucy Douglass, Anne Shaughnessy, and Sabrina Kaplan that helped our daughter become the young lady she is today. They absolutely went way above and beyond merely teaching the curriculum. They loved her, pushed her, and made her smile and most importantly—believe in herself. Our daughter is walking proof of the value of a Nashoba Brooks education.”
