To Be a Nashoba Brooks Parent

The parent-school partnership at Nashoba Brooks is part of our history. The schools’ founders were also its parents. Since the earliest years, parents have been active in the present-day life of the school and in the planning for its future.

Being a parent at Nashoba Brooks feels like this:

“I love when I make a new friend at the school because I know there’s no way they aren’t going to have a great experience. The parent group at Nashoba Brooks is so incredibly strong and unified. It’s a welcoming place, with something for everybody to do if they want to be involved. If you put in a little bit, you’re going to get back full loads.”

“My wife and I love Nashoba Brooks as a parent community. Parents are so involved, welcomed and down to earth – I think we’re as anxious to see ‘our friends’ as much or more than our daughters are their classmates each fall.”

— Father of kindergarten girl and seventh grade girl

“Nashoba Brooks demonstrates being the best through their willingness to do better. They do this by respecting parents voices and offering a variety of avenues for parents to be involved in the school. My family has personally grown from SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity), a program devoted to broadening awareness regarding respect for humanity.”

“We feel that it really counts for parents to be active and engaged, both formally—my wife is a room parent, I am a trustee—and informally, which might be even more valuable. It’s more important to come to school to talk in informal gatherings about what we care about for our children and the community. This helps to help build the strength of the school.”

— Father of first grade boy, third grade girl, fifth grade girl

“I feel I have grown, too, during my children’s years here. There are so many opportunities to learn about parenting and to connect with others around parenting issues. There are plenty of events and functions to bring us together, which some parents participate in and some don’t—a lot of us are working with busy lives, but still, we connect. We form strong bonds and friendships.”

— Mother of eighth grade girl and three graduates

“New parents should know that the parent community works as hard to integrate them as the school works to integrate students.”

— Father of girl in grade 8 and of two graduates (boy and girl)
