Yes...And

When the world hands you something unexpected, how might you build upon it to create new possibilities?
Each year we choose a theme that connects with our mission and core values and provides a shared focus for our school-wide summer reading, thinking, and discussions throughout the year. Past themes have included: growth mindset, creative and constructive inquiry, reframing failure, the power of place, re-, and more. Each theme has challenged us to think more deeply and expansively about our daily work, how we might continue to improve, and how we can meaningfully contribute to the field of education. Past discussions have inspired new content, catalyzed skill development, and led to new explorations. This year, our theme of Yes…And draws from improv to help us recognize that though we are not always able to predict what will come our way, we can be prepared to accept it and build upon it with our own creativity and perspective to create something new and beautiful that opens up new possibilities for the future. We look forward to exploring how we might embrace new ideas and perspectives as part of our collaborative and constructive learning process. When the world hands you something unexpected, how might you build upon it to create new possibilities?
