The Fierce Urgency of Now

What actions can you take today to improve opportunities for tomorrow? What is most deserving of your urgent, positive action?
“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now.” Years ago, I selected this quotation from Martin Luther King, Jr. as my high school yearbook quote. Despite being decades after it was initially stated, the message felt both timely and important. Decades later, it continues to resonate. King’s call for “vigorous and positive action” seems both timely and timeless. Creating foundations for future learning, building the skills to listen with empathy and act with integrity, and developing voice and identity fueled confidence and purpose, Nashoba Brooks students embrace the urgency of now. Whether three years old or thirteen, our students recognize that their curiosity and explorations today will open unlimited possibilities for tomorrow.
