Why Nashoba Brooks?

As a small community with intimate class sizes, we know our students by more than just their names, we know them by their character, quirks, interests, challenges, and successes. Teachers guide their students to participate, learn, and develop a sense of belonging. They encourage students to solve challenging problems, take healthy academic risks, voice their opinions, and grow from their mistakes, all while embracing the School’s motto to “work hard, play fair, be kind, and reach out.” There are many aspects of our school that make it a compelling and transformative place for students, and here are just a few of the reasons why you should consider Nashoba Brooks School:
1
We take excellence personally

We know that there is no one way to be excellent and no single measure of excellence. We believe in helping each child to discover, explore, and harness their individual strengths and lean into areas for growth. Our students learn more when they measure their achievement against their own continuous improvement. Through their pursuit of personal excellence, our students begin to challenge themselves, support each other, and build a more diverse and inclusive community that creates expansive opportunities for learning.

2
We create innovative, integrated curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to prepare students for a world that is rapidly changing and increasingly interconnected. Our integrated curriculum helps students explore learning that transcends academic disciplines to build broad and deep understanding of core content as well as skills that enable them to apply their knowledge in new and evolving contexts. Our students gain competence and confidence to participate and contribute as members of an inclusive community. Our graduates leave Nashoba Brooks with a genuine love of reading, research, design thinking, innovative problem solving, and a commitment to having a meaningful impact on their communities and our world.

3
We
launch
leaders

We provide our students with many opportunities to develop and practice authentic leadership skills. Whether presenting during a sharing of understanding in the Lower School, or making a speech about our core values when running for class president in the Middle School, our students find, develop, and leverage their voices to advocate for themselves and others. When contributing to a book discussion, creating an award winning documentary film, performing on stage, leading an all-school assembly, taking on a MATHCOUNTS competition, or serving as an upstander in the broader community, our students think critically and engage meaningfully. Our students are well known for their active and dedicated participation in their communities (see the The Nashoba Brooks Difference section of our Why a Girls Middle School page). Students learn that authentic leadership is about more than being the loudest voice or having a title, it is about acting with integrity to make a positive impact.

Joy-filled learning

We believe that learning should be a joyful process filled with challenge, wonder, and awe. We want our students to embrace a growth mindset, to recognize mistakes as an important part of discovery, to make connections with the natural world, and to see themselves as learners for life. Check out our Instagram or Facebook pages for a glimpse into the magic that fills our days at School.
5
A
foundation for the future

At Nashoba Brooks School, we believe elementary and middle school education provide an essential foundation for our students’ future as learners and as leaders. From our students and their parents to our teachers and trustees, every member of the School community finds joy in learning as a lifelong pursuit. Together we invest in your children, our future, and the value of inspired education. Nashoba Brooks is committed to building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community by making the School more accessible and affordable for families who are a strong fit for our program.
