Grade 2 Visits Gaining Ground

Grade 2 students took a field trip to Gaining Ground in October. Gaining Ground is a non-profit organic farm in Concord that grows vegetables and fruit, with the help of community volunteers, for people in need.
Our student volunteers worked hard and had a great time picking brussel sprouts, clearing out herb beds, shelling and sorting beans, and harvesting carrots. Gaining Ground donates all of their produce to meal programs and food pantries in the area.

“We could not do what we do without the help of our volunteers and community partners like Nashoba Brooks School”, says Amy Capofreddi, first Executive Director of Gaining Ground and a former member of the Nashoba Brooks School development team.

Nashoba Brooks classes have been visiting Gaining Ground for two decades and they recently expanded their partnership by connecting with OpenTable, allowing students to see where some of the produce goes after it is donated by Gaining Ground.
