Grade 3 Teacher Chosen For Klingenstein Fellowship

Jake Davey, a Grade 3 teacher at Nashoba Brooks School, has been awarded a Klingenstein Summer Institute Fellowship for 2016. The Klingenstein Center is part of Teachers College at Columbia University.
The Klingenstein Summer Institute awards fellowships to only 75 educators from around the world each year. The Fellows spend two weeks exploring theoretical and practical aspects of the field of education. Davey says that this kind of professional development opportunity is something he’s wanted to do for a long time. Having been a classroom teacher for seven years, he said, “The goals of the Institute align well with the areas in which I hope to grow as a teacher. I am interested in aspects of school leadership, and this experience will help me develop the skills necessary to be a change agent in and out of the classroom.”

Davey holds a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University and an M.Ed. from Lesley University. Prior to Nashoba Brooks, he taught at the Chestnut Hill School.
